The Story
Blaenau Gwent’s annual Welsh Food Festivals bring together local producers, businesses and communities to celebrate Welsh food, culture and creativity.
We were brought in to create detailed event site plans that would transform town centre spaces into safe, welcoming festival environments. The plans needed to balance visitor experience with practical requirements, including stall layouts, pedestrian movement, accessibility, power, safety and operational needs.
Using accurate mapping data, CAD planning and visualisations, we created a clear blueprint to help the delivery team confidently plan and install the events.
The Challenge
Designing events within active town centres requires careful consideration of existing businesses, public access, emergency routes and the everyday use of the space.
The layouts needed to be flexible enough to accommodate different numbers of exhibitors, traders and activities while ensuring the festival remained accessible, safe and easy to navigate. Working closely with the client, stakeholders and event teams, we needed to create plans that were both practical to deliver and aligned with the vision for the events.
The Solution
We developed detailed CAD site plans and 3D visualisations to map the festival environments, including stall locations, stage areas, seating, power requirements, waste management and visitor routes.
By analysing the available spaces and planning around existing town infrastructure, we created layouts that allowed the festivals to operate smoothly while minimising disruption to local businesses and residents.
The final planning documents provided the production team with a clear installation guide, supporting efficient delivery from setup through to event day.
The Outcome
The completed plans supported the successful delivery of two community food festivals, creating well-organised spaces for exhibitors, performers and visitors.
The events welcomed local businesses, increased footfall and created positive experiences for the surrounding communities. The client and delivery team benefited from having clear, practical plans that simplified installation and event management.
